Getting Around Naples: A Guide to Public Transport, Taxis, and Walking

Naples can seem chaotic, but getting around is easier than you think, especially when you're staying somewhere as central as Quartino Napoletano. Our prime location next to major transport hubs means less time commuting and more time exploring.

Walking: The Best Way to See the City

The best way to experience the heart of Naples is on foot. From our B&B, the entire Centro Storico is your playground. You can easily walk to Spaccanapoli, the Duomo, the Archaeological Museum, and countless pizzerias. Walking allows you to discover hidden gems and absorb the city's unique energy.

The Metro: Clean, Efficient, and Artistic

The Naples Metro is one of the most beautiful in Europe, with many stations designed as public art installations (the "Stazioni dell'Arte"). Line 1 is particularly useful for tourists, connecting the historic center to the Vomero hill and the main train station. The "Università" and "Garibaldi" stations are both easily accessible from Quartino Napoletano, making it simple to reach different parts of the city.

Funiculars: Reaching for the Views

To get the best panoramic views of Naples and the bay, you'll need to head uphill to the Vomero district. The city's four funicular lines are a charming and practical way to do this. They connect the lower city to Vomero, where you can visit Castel Sant'Elmo and the Certosa di San Martino.

Trains: Your Gateway to the Region

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Quartino Napoletano is our proximity to Napoli Centrale and Garibaldi stations (just an 850-meter walk). From here, you can catch:

  • The Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Sorrento.
  • High-speed trains (Frecciarossa, Italo) to Rome, Florence, and other major Italian cities.
This makes planning day trips incredibly simple, with no need for taxis or complicated transfers.

Taxis and Airport Connections

For getting to and from Naples International Airport (Capodichino), the Alibus shuttle is a convenient option that stops at the central station. Taxis are also readily available, but be sure to use official ones and ask for the fixed fare (tariffa predeterminata). We can also help arrange a private airport shuttle for maximum comfort.
