A day trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius is an unforgettable journey into ancient history and natural power. Thanks to the strategic location of Quartino Napoletano near the main train station, embarking on this adventure is incredibly straightforward.

Getting There

From Napoli Centrale station (a short walk from our B&B), take the Circumvesuviana train line towards Sorrento and get off at the "Pompei Scavi - Villa dei Misteri" stop. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes, and the station is right at the main entrance to the archaeological site.

Exploring Pompeii

Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours exploring this vast, remarkably preserved Roman city. Walk the ancient stone streets, step into villas adorned with frescoes, and visit the Forum, temples, and amphitheater. Seeing the plaster casts of the victims is a poignant and powerful experience. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and a hat, especially in summer.

Ascending Mount Vesuvius

After exploring Pompeii, you can visit the volcano itself. From the Pompeii or Herculaneum train stations, you can take a bus or shuttle up the slopes of Vesuvius. The bus takes you to a car park, from where it's a 20-30 minute uphill walk to the crater rim. The path is gravelly but not overly difficult. The reward is a stunning panoramic view of the Bay of Naples and a look directly into the steaming crater of the legendary volcano.

After a long day of history and hiking, the comfortable, air-conditioned rooms at Quartino Napoletano are the perfect place to return to, rest, and reflect on your incredible journey.
